In today’s competitive market, offering flexible online payment options has become essential for retaining subscribers. Customers are increasingly looking for convenience and the ability to manage their expenses over time, especially when it comes to recurring payments. One of the most effective ways to meet this demand is by enabling split payment option, a modern fintech solution that allows customers to pay for their subscriptions in two, four, or more installments instead of a single upfront fee. Are you interested in implementing split payment on your WordPress website? You can do it within a few clicks if you are using the Better Payment plugin to manage payments on the website. Let us walk you through setting up and implementing split payments for your subscribers.
What Does the Split Payment Option Offer for the Subscription Model?
If the split payment option is new to you, then let us explain to you in detail what it is and how it works. The Split Payment option in a subscription model allows customers to divide a total purchase amount into several smaller, predefined payments over a fixed period. It helps to make payment more affordable and accessible, especially for high-value products or services. Unlike traditional recurring subscriptions, which continue indefinitely until canceled, split payments are structured to cover a one-time cost in multiple installments.
For instance, a course priced at $499 might offer a split payment plan of four monthly payments of $125. Similarly, a SaaS product’s annual plan could be made available in three separate payments instead of requiring the full amount upfront.
In most cases, users gain full access to the product or service from the beginning, even though they complete the payments gradually. This approach provides a more flexible purchasing option while maintaining a clear payment schedule. Nonetheless, it is critical that companies explain their policies regarding refunds, cancellations and unsuccessful payments.

Step 1: Retrieve Price IDs from Stripe for Split Payment
You can only add the split payment option to your subscription form with Better Payment when Stripe is used as the payment method. So, you have to create and retrieve the Price IDs from Stripe and then integrate them with your subscription form, created with Better Payment.
Go to your Stripe account and log in. Now, click on the ‘+ Add Product’ button and a popup will appear. Here, add the product ‘Name’, ‘Description’ and ‘Image’. Then select payment method ‘One-off’ and now add the default ‘Amount.’ Your product will be added with your set amount.

Choose the default product and click on it. Once you are in, click on the three dots right beside your default product. From the resulting popup options, click on the ’Copy Price ID’ option to retrieve the price ID of your chosen product.
Your main subscription collecting Price ID is created, bravo. Now you have to configure Price IDs for the split payment option. Again, inside the chosen product, click on the ‘+’ icon and like previously, choose ‘Recurring,’ select Pricing Model, enter the Amount required per installation, choose a ‘Billing period’ and hit the ‘Create Price’ button. Now, click on the new price option and copy the Price ID.

This is how you collect Price IDs from Stripe to configure Split Payment into your Better Payment subscription.
Step 2: Create a Subscription Form with Better Payment in Elementor
Search for the ‘Better Payment’ element in the Elementor widget gallery. Drag and drop the element into the page where you want to add the subscription form. The form will instantly appear on your editor panel.

Under Better Payment ‘Payment Settings’, choose ‘Layout 4 | General’ from the ‘Form Layout Options’ and select ‘Payment Type’ as ‘Split Payment’. In the Price ID section, add the default price ID you copied earlier from Stripe. Only this form layout contains the subscription functionality. So you have to go with it.

Step 3: Integrate Installment Price ID & Publish Your Subscription Form
